Attending is a Disney Resort is an incredible experience, regardless what age you are! We decided to take a day trip to the resort on a Sunday in late October and we LOVED every minute of our time there! We lucked out as the park wasn’t all that busy, we had great weather, and as a bonus it was Halloween themed!

How to Get There

The Shanghai Disney Resort is somewhat close to the Shanghai Pudong Airport. You can get there quite easily on the metro on Line 11 at the Disney Resort Station. In the end we took the metro on the way there, and then decided to take a taxi after the park closed. There is a separate taxi area where the buses are located and it was a smooth and easy process grabbing a taxi in the evening.

Before You Go

Downloading the Shanghai Disney app is a MUST and will really help you maximize your time at the park. This app is great as it shows you all of the locations of the different attractions in the park, and also includes the live wait time for each ride – how cool is that?

Exploring the Park

Shanghai Disney Resort

We arrived to the park around 10:00am and stayed until it closed at 8:30pm on a Sunday. Overall we felt that this was enough time to explore the park, and we got to experience pretty much all areas of the park. Keep in mind however, that we went there on the last Sunday in October and the park wasn’t very busy. The longest wait for a ride was about 40 minutes and we did not have to wait this long for – however it will depend on the day and how busy the park is.

What to Eat at the Park!

All over the park you’ll find many shops to eat at! Our favourite was the Sichuan style “nachos” with spiced chicken and potato chips found at the Pixar Toy Story Land! Since it was also Halloween, the park also offered special Halloween dishes and snacks! We found these special features out by the pamphlet located at the information booth! Be sure to check it out! There are many shops and cafes to eat at, surely you’ll find something tasty!

Halloween celebrations at the Shanghai Disney Resort

We were excited to learn that the park became transformed into a spooky resort in October! Around the entrance area is where you will see most of the Halloween decorations, and it is really fun to see them come alive at night! Within the park there are a few information booths where you can pick up a Halloween edition guide map, where you can locate special seasonal treats around the park.

Be sure to stay until the evening as you’ll be able to see the Villain’s Parade! An awesome parade that begins at 7:00pm, and it features some of Disney’s most beloved (and spooky) villains!

To finish the evening off, you’ll get to see the famous Disney fireworks! Beginning promptly at 8:30pm and lasting about 20 minutes, you’ll see some beautiful fireworks and snippets of Disney characters on the Disney castle! What a way to end such a fun day!

If you have an extra day in Shanghai, then certainly check out the Shanghai Disney Resort! It is a fun day trip for everyone!
