Hey travellers, welcome to The Real Souvenir! I’m Denise – but call me D!
Like many of us out there, I have started travelling and just can’t seem to stop. I’m from a small town in Ontario, Canada and discovered my passion for exploring the world when I was 21! Lucky for me I met someone who seems to share this same passion. Enter Ru. His life growing up seemed to be the opposite of mine. He grew up on the international circuit, living in multiple countries and visiting cities all over the world. Already filling up about 10 passports gives you an idea just how much he has travelled.
Together we have been to over 40 countries and countless cities, trying to make the most out of each travelling experience. We like to maximize our itineraries, while at the same time focus on budget travelling. We also entered a new area of travelling – pet travel with our dog Buddy! We moved our little family across the world, living in different countries and will provide some insight on what it’s like to travel and move abroad with a pet! Sadly our sweet 13 year old Buddy is no longer with us. We were grateful to have had an adventure pup by our side.
The goal of this site is to spread the message of the value that travel can bring into our lives! When we are exploring a new city or country many of us (myself included) purchase something as a means of having a souvenir to remember the experience. Although it is neat to collect items from different countries, it really is the experience that you had that is the real souvenir.
There is nothing that tops the feeling of embracing a new culture, exploring unseen areas, and meeting locals along the way.
Travel changes us.
Travelling doesn’t necessarily mean hopping on a plane to visit a new country. There are beautiful places to explore around the corner! It’s a matter of realizing where these places are and how to get there!!
