It’s like that if you have heard about Slovenia, then you have heard about the city of Bled. It is a beautiful place that you can easily spend a few days exploring around Bled, Slovenia! We thoroughly enjoyed our time and read below learn about how we spent it!

Go for Hike at Vintgar Gorge

Vintgar Gorge

While visiting Lake Bled we were excited to do some exploring around Bled, and see just what this area has to offer! We learned about the Vintgar Gorge and its stunning views. While walking around Bled, we came across a local tour company that offers transportation to the Vintgar Gorge and The Bled Castle.

The Vintgar Gorge was absolutely stunning and certainly was a highlight of our trip to Bled. Since we had arranged transportation we had been given 2 hours to explore before meeting our driver for our ride back. Overall we felt that this was enough time to reach one of the main waterfall areas and trek back the same way we came. At this waterfall there was a little shop selling snack food and drinks, as well there was also a washroom.

The entrance fee to the Vintar Gorge was 10 Euro.

We began our trek around 9:45 am and came back to meet our driver at 11:45 am. We noticed that one our way back after 11:00 am it got very busy. The trail that you’ll follow mostly allows for a single file line. If you go later in the day it will likely be too busy and you’ll be following a line throughout your walk. I highly recommend you go as early as you can. Beat the rush, and enjoy the stellar views.

This was not a guided tour, rather direct transportation to and from the Vintgar Gorge. You have the option to get a ride back to Bled city, or to the Bled Castle. As we wanted to see the castle anyways, we decided that we would get picked up from the Vintgar Gorge and taken directly to Bled Castle.

Each transportation ride costs 5 Euro per person each way. In total, we spent 10 Euro per person for transport.

Note: There is also a shuttle bus for 1 Euro from Bled to the Vintar Gorge.

Bled Castle Entrance Fee: 11 Euro

We arrived at Castle Bled around 12:00pm and it wasn’t too busy at all. The castle offers breathtaking views of Lake Bled and even features a museum, cafe, and gift shop as well. We especially enjoyed tasting our way in the honey shop for local tasty honey.

At the cafe, we even enjoyed a slice of the infamous Bled cake. A delicious treat with an incredible view.

Walk Around Lake Bled

Lake Bled has a trail for walkers that is 6km long. We only ended up walking around the whole lake by chance. Originally, we had planned on renting a boat to go onto the lake, but the thunderstorms said otherwise. Luckily the rain had stopped late into the afternoon and so we set out to explore around Lake Bled.

Lake Bled

Walking around the lake around sunset gave us a beautiful sight. The lake has stunning views from many different points. If you walk around the whole lake you’ll also see a little beach area, cafe and a restaurant.
