Sliema is my favourite place to be for great eats, tasty drinks, and a relaxing vibe! While much of Sliema is on the coast, you have incredible views without the hustle and bustle of being in an overly touristy area. You might be wondering where to eat in Sliema – but don’t worry! Ta’ Kolina

First on the list of this Sliema Food Guide is Ta’Kolina. It is a great Maltese restaurant just across from the water near the popular Roman Baths. Stop in after a relaxing swim in the sea. We enjoyed a variety of Maltese dishes, including the Maltese Platter, Chicken Pesto Salad, and Rabbit Ravioli.
The Maltese platter consists of Maltese sausage, local cheese, stuffed olives, pickled onions, and more!
Bocconcino Caffe and restaurant
Vibe: Authentic, friendly

We were pleasantly surprised when we popped into Bocconico Caffe and restaurant for lunch. We really enjoyed getting a Breakfast Ftira, along with an English Breakfast. The food tastes great, and it’s the best budget-friendly place on this list! It’s also an easy place to stop for a relaxing bite near the water!
A Ftira is a sourdough bread in the shape of a ring, often paired with olive oil, tomato paste, etc. and is a staple of Malta
Ta’ Kris
Vibe: Authentic, busy

If you are wondering where to eat in Sliema, then Ta’Kris should definitely be on the list! It is an extremely popular Maltese restaurant, so be sure to make a reservation! We always enjoyed the Maltese platter, and I love to pair it with the Maltese Ravioli.
The Malese Ravioli consists of pasta filled with ricotta, topped with parsley and tomato sauce – yum!
Note: They have since moved their location from Sliema closer to Gżira along the popular Triq Ix – Xatt road.

Little Argentina
Vibe: Quaint, friendly

We actually came to Little Argentina for lunch, and it was not busy at all! We were only one of two sittings at that time. However, don’t be fooled by not being busy. The food was amazing! We had a couple of seasonal dishes and loved the steak! I would certainly give this restaurant a try!
Marrobbio
Vibe: Authentic, busy, friendly

Marrobbio is a staple in Sliema and certainly a fan favourite for this Sliema Food Guide. If you are in the mood for authentic Italian pizza, then look no further! Marrobbio is ALWAYS busy, and it’s certainly best to have a reservation. You can choose from a variety of unique pizzas or you can create your own! They even have 6 different crusts that you can choose from. All appetizers, pizza, and wine were great. You simply cannot go wrong!
Recommendation: Order the Pistacchiosa or the A Maidda for a Pistachiso Pesto Pizza or the Dai Monti for a pizza with a yellow cherry tomato sauce. They. Were. AMAZING!
One thai kitchen
Vibe: Authentic, friendly, low-key

One thai kitchen is a fantastic, authentic Thai restaurant that was unbelievable! We will certainly be going back without a doubt! It mainly has outdoor seating; however, it does offer a small room for indoor which isn’t the most relaxing. We went in the winter months, so we opted to be indoors (not heated, though, just out of the wind). I’d want to go back when it’s a bit warmer and eat outside!
Recommendation: Head there during the warmer months and try one of their curries!!
La Vida
Vibe: Authentic, local, friendly

La Vida offers great Spanish Tapas, and we absolutely loved it! We enjoyed an amazing meal with Ru’s family and tried so many different dishes. Great vibe, great eats, and great wine! Can’t go wrong here!
Era Ora Steakhouse

Era Ora Steakhouse is a beautiful restaurant with an incredible view of Balluta Bay! It is located on the 3rd floor, and you will need a reservation to get a prime seating area for a fantastic view! The steak was unbelievable, as was everything else that we ordered.
Recommendation: Make a reservation around sunset and enjoy the views by the water!
WOM – Word of Mouth
Vibe: Artsy, laid back

Looking for the perfect brunch spot? WOM is the place to be! It has a relaxing atmosphere, unique eats, and is located across the water. Better up – request a song on their Jukebox!
It is conveniently located across from the Victorian Baths, making it a perfect spot for food after a dip in the sea.
Recommendation: My go-to was the Fritter Stack. Complete with sweet potato, feta and zucchini fritters, a poached egg, and more. It’s so tasty you’ll come back again!
NAAR Restobar
Vibe: Elegant, Seaside

NAAR Restobar is located right on Balluta Bay on the way to St. Julian’s. It has great views of the sea, along with some awesome eats! It’s a relaxing seaside place that is definitely worth consideration!
Recommendation: Head there for one of their weekday specials, including Bottomless Weekend Brunch, Ladies Night on Wednesdays, and Happy Hour!
Tower Road Restaurants: Best Dining with a Sea View on the Sliema Promenade
Il-Gabbana
Vibe: Friendly, seaside

Il-Gabbana continues to be one of our favourites! It has a great location, being on the promenade, overlooking the sea! There is a variety of international food here, and it always has a great Happy Hour! If you are thinking about where to eat in Sliema, then head on here!
The Compass Lounge
Vibe: Friendly, seaside

The Compass Lounge is another great spot to have food and drinks along the promenade. It has a similar vibe to Il-Gabbana, so I wouldn’t say that you need to go to both places. This restaurant also has a great vibe and is relaxing by the water!
Sliema’s Best Casual Eats: Quality Food for On-the-Go
The Olive House
Vibe: Authentic

While once located in Sliema, it has since moved to Gżira, and it is certainly worth a mention on this list! The Olive House was simply one of our go-tos as residents of Sliema in 2025. It is a Lebanese restaurant, and we enjoyed getting the platter and sharamawa wraps. The falafels there are some of the best we have ever had. It’s simply a must to try!
Kebab Bistro
Vibe: Friendly

We walked by Kebab Bistro all the time and finally tried it via delivery! It is a Turkish restaurant and our favourite thing to order was the Doner Plate. The meat was really tasty, and it came with a variety of sides!
Recommendation: You may find a discount by ordering through a food app (check Wolt or Bolt), and we were delighted by the amount of food we got for the price we paid.
RivaReno Gelato Sliema

RivaReno Gelato is a go-to place when looking to cool down with a creamy and yummy gelato! A great selection of desserts can be found here! It even features multiple vegan gelato flavours, which was a bonus to our dairy-free guests and us!
Kreta Greek Gyros & Grill Sliema

Kreta Greek Gyros & Grill Sliema was the newest place on this list, offering great Greek food! While there is only a small seating area outside, we have actually found it convenient to order it for takeaway. Large meat portions are included in their plates!
Recommendation: While waiting for your food, order a specialty cocktail at La Luz next door!

Did you know that you can get food discounts on the Wolt and Bolt Delivery apps? After a long tour day, you might want to eat in at your hotel or enjoy take-away while sitting on a bench along the Promenade. Download these two apps and see what discounts you can find in Sliema!
Tipping in Malta
Tipping is not mandatory; however, it is appreciated while dining in Malta. Be sure to check your bill, as it’s possible that a service charge is already included. A tip of 5-10% is appreciated.
Walking Food Tour
If you want to take the guesswork out of which local dishes to try and would like to learn about Malta’s history, then this tour just might be for you! Although this particular tour is located in Valetta, it’s a short ferry ride from Sliema and may be worth checking out. Although we have not been on this exact tour, it has great reviews! We have enjoyed food tours from other countries while on vacation and loved them!
Final Thoughts on This Sliema Food Guide
Overall, I was surprised by how many recommendations there were to answer the question – where to eat in Sliema. I think I’ve made my point that you should spend at least some time in Sliema, haha. We loved the low-key vibe in this neighbourhood, the easy ferry access, and the many food spots located here! We loved spending our year in the Sliema area and the sea views that this location offers.
