Jangho Beach has been one of our favourite destinations to date in South Korea! The transit system is South Korea is excellent and makes this weekend getaway not only easy but also quite affordable!

Jangho Beach, Seoul

Jangho Beach is very popular in the summer months from June-August as it offers tourists plenty of sea activities including canoeing, snorkeling, and swimming in beautiful clear waters! When I was researching places to visit in South Korea, Jangho beach became at the top of my list! I did miss the summer attractions as we decided to go in October 2017, however this just means that we might have to plan another trip back! 🙂

How to Get There

Bus Tickets

We took a bus from Dong Seoul Terminal (Gangbyeon Station on the green subway line 2) to Jangho. This bus travels to this coastal city with a few stops along the way, and it took approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. The cost was 20,000krw for a one way ticket. When you arrive there, you’ll end up right in front of a GS 25. It is best to go in there right away and book your ticket back to Seoul. Although it is not a bus “terminal”, this is the stop you’ll need to be back at in order to catch your return bus.

Where to stay

Finding a place to stay isn’t the easiest as I am unsure of local Korean accommodations websites. With that said I chose to stay at an Airbnb and LOVED IT! I stayed in a studio apartment located right next to the beach and Yonghwa Railbike Station. This place also had a view of the beach from my room and a rooftop to enjoy some drinks! The cost per night for this room on a weekend was approximately 70,000 krw.

Things to do

Depending on the time of year you visit Jangho Beach will determine the activities that you can enjoy! While I went in the fall many of the summer activities had been closed for the season. In the summer time you can rent canoes with transparent bottoms, rent snorkeling equipment, and enjoy some swimming! Although there is more of a variety of activities in the summer, note that is does get quite busy! In October it was pretty vacant and we enjoyed the coastal life without the hustle and bustle of tourists.

Go for a Railbike Ride

This was my favourite activity that we did while in Jangho! The weather was perfect for this railbike ride! the ride lasts about and hour and you have a stop for 10 minutes about halfway through the ride. You get beautiful views of the coast throughout the majority of the ride and the tunnels you go through are definitely a lot of fun as well! You can rent a cart for 2 or for 4 people. We rented a cart for 2 and it costs 20,000krw in total. After you reach your destination at Gungchon Station, you’ll be directed to a coach bus, which will drive you back to your starting point! This is definitely a MUST while in Jangho!

It is best to book your tickets a head of time. Please note that the website is only in Korean. I actually had a friend help book the tickets for me!

Visit the Jangho Port

The Jangho Port area hosts the fun summer activities! As you walk towards that area you’ll see a number of little restaurants and shops lining the main street. This area was fairly empty in October, however the view was stunning! We walked around the area and walked over the little bridge for another view over the water. This was the view that I came to see in Jangho and it certainly did not disappoint! We spent over an hour just at this little area just taking in the views!

Have a Beach Day!

The whole city of Jangho is lined by a stunning, sandy beach! Although I’m sure it gets quite full in the summer time, we had it pretty much to ourselves in October.

If you are looking for a coastal getaway, certainly keep Jangho Beach in mind! A great little getaway to get out of the hustle and bustle of city life!
